Superfine Ampworks Christmas Party at The Casbah

With just a few weeks left until the fat man comes down the chimney, holiday office parties are in full swing. Sure I enjoy a socially awkward gathering with people you would not normally hang out with after work hours like the next guy, but since my wife is a full-time baby wrangler and my office is floating in the South Atlantic Ocean we don’t have the pleasure of suffering through office parties. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure some companies throw great parties but for the majority the best you can hope is someone takes one too many trips to the punch bowl and says something inappropriate to the bosses wife. With that said, I was happy when the Superfine Amp works Christmas Party popped up on my radar. A Christmas Party that I can attend by choice and not obligation, awesome custom guitars, live music and food trucks sounded like my kind of party. So last Wednesday I made my way to to Downtown Durham to partake in the festivities and here are some photographs from the evening. To see more pictures please visit my photography site here

The evening kicked-off with a pre-party at the Sound Pure's new Durham showroom.

The duo, River Otters opened up the evening music at the Casbah with their gritty acoustic sound. They did a fantastic job in their first live show.

One of my favorite things is stumbling upon amazing musicians. Hearing the talented Phil Cook sing and play guitar opened a large catalog of good music to listen to.

Rocky and the Pressors

Do not be fooled but the collared shirts and pretty boy looks, New York based reggae band Rocky and the Pressers laid down some serious harmonies, baselines, saxophone and reggae rhythms.

I had a chance to step onto the Chirba Chiba truck and talk to Nate Adams about his travels and how living in Taiwan motivated his desire to start a dumpling truck.
