The Larry Flint and Hugh Hefner of Food Pornograpghy: JWKPEC Photography

I am nowhere near a professional photographer, this is quite evident to me every time I am brave enough to venture outside the automatic functions of my fancy smancy camera. I accept that I am one of those people that buys equipment that I am not quailified to operarate, but do it anyway because amazon.com is always open. With that said, I do make an effort to learn and elevate my photography skills past something fit for a Playskool camera. When looking to raise your game the best thing to do is look at and emulate someone who knows what the hell they are doing. Its those times when I call up my good friend Jason Kaumeyer and start buzzing him with questions about apature, focal length, lighting and how to turn my camera on.

Jason is one half of a two man photography team at JWKPEC Photography that has been blazing their way through the Charleston food scene. Paul Cheney and Jason’s photos have graced the pages and websites of national publications like Food and Wine, Southern Living, Vogue and Bon Appetit. They have recently expanded to the Chicago area with plans to take the windy city by storm landing work with Chitown mainstays Landry’s and Harry Carry’s.

I am honored that they have allowed me to share their work here on La Buena Vida and go a little behind the scene of what professionals can do with a shutter and a lens. Every now and then, I will post some of their work that may induce a drool frothy enough to short circuit your keyboard (you’ve been warned). To see more of their work or request their services you can find them at jwkpec.com
